Eva Mullen (Artist)
From Evacyclopedia, the Eva encyclopedia
Eva Mullen is a multi-media artist focusing mainly on painting and printmaking. Through large-scale abstract paintings done in acrylic and oil, Eva explores personal narratives in relation to societal structures of gender and sexuality. Queerness is essential to Eva's work—each life experience expressed through abstracted forms is a life experience shaped by a queer existence and is examined through a lesbian feminist lens.Eva's prints are also heavily informed by their queerness, their politics, and their poetry. Working mainly in woodcut (excluding a brief interlude during which numerous photo intaglio prints were made), Eva creates prints that are far more figurative than their paintings and often include elements of text to express a variety of views, emotions, and imperatives.
